Schenectady County Community College School of Music on Saturday, Sept. 29, will host an open house for the public to see the new building from 2 to 4 p.m., with a faculty concert featuring the Empire Jazz Orchestra.
From the college's press release:
After the Open House, guests will be treated to a special performance by members of the College’s Music Faculty at 4 p.m. in the Taylor Auditorium. Lucille Beer, mezzo-soprano; Matthew Billie, classical guitar; Mark Evans, piano; Karen Hosmer, oboe; Nachiko Maekane, percussion; and Brett Wery, clarinet, will perform a variety of pieces. The Empire Jazz Orchestra, professional jazz ensemble in residence at SCCC, directed by Dr. William Meckley, Professor and Dean of the School of Music, will then take the stage and perform music for big band. There is no charge for the performance, but seating is on a first come, first served basis.
