Crash results in felony DWI charge

Aaron T. Berge

— Police are blaming drunken driving for a crash on I-88 in the Town of Duanesburg, but the man facing charges allegedly refused a breath test.

State Police on Friday, Oct. 19, arrested Aaron T. Berge, 29, of Otego, and charged him with felony DWI and felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Berge allegedly told police he fell asleep while driving on the highway, which led him to strike the median guiderail and caused his vehicle to spin and come to rest in the middle of the westbound lanes. He was not injured during the incident, police said.

Police said Berge refused to submit to a chemical test. Berge was previously convicted of DWI and his license was revoked for the prior conviction, according to police.

Berge was arraigned in the Town of Duanesburg Court and remanded to the Schenectady County jail.
